——————————————————————————–
Kanato enters the building, spotting a secretary and going up to her. “Uh- excuse me ma’am, could I go to the roof?” Kanato asks. “Why do you need to get up there?” she asks. “I threw a frisbee and it landed up there” Kanato says, coming up with the excuse on the spot. “The building is about 300 feet..” the secretary replies, suspicious of Kanato’s intentions. “Uhhh- I have a good arm?” Kanato says. The woman points him to an elevator. “Press 28, and you better hope that frisbee of yours doesn’t fly away during the ride” she says. “Thanks a million!” Kanato says while running to the elevator. Ding! Ding! Ding! “**** this is gonna take a while”. 25 dings later and the door opens to the roof. Kanato carefully looks around the roof, not finding Kanata but weirdly enough an actual frisbee. “Huh, that’s neat” he says “Wait no, can’t get distracted”. Kanato looks around for any residuals. A faint, red path shows up, leading from the elevator to the edge of the roof and… ending there? “What the hell?” Kanato says. He looks off the building, seeing people walk on the sidewalk below him. He sits for a moment and thinks “Where could he have gone? He didn’t jump did he?” Kanato thinks. The height of the building would easily kill anyone… anyone that wasn’t made of metal. He looks around the edges of the building and finds a small crater, clearly caused by an extremely powerful drop. “That must have been him, the only way he could have survived that is turning to tungsten, which with it’s insane density, would result in a crater” Kanato reasons. After reaching the bottom of the tower, he scans the landing area for residuals. He finds a path of red energy, the same red that Kanata’s color is. He follows it, leading him through sidewalks full of people and ending at an abandoned building. Kanato takes a deep breath, knowing if he is not careful, Kanata could crush his head like an orange. The sorcerer carefully opens the door to the building. No functioning lights and very little light let in, Kanato has trouble seeing. He stealthily creeps around the building, which appeared to have been an apartment building, with a staircase going either up or down. Kanato follows the residuals, going down and down into a basement. He stops, scared for his life. Kanata could be anywhere. His eyes adjusted to the dark, noticing a faint light- no reflection- in the room. Kanato presses himself against a wall. “That reflection could be Kanata’s tungsten, so it’s better to be careful” Kanato thinks to himself. Suddenly, he hears footsteps approaching the doorway. Kanato presses himself even harder against the wall and holds his breath. Sure enough, Kanata exits the room, walking right past Kanato. The curse user is dressed in a long black coat with a hood, hiding his body and most of his face. The only reason Kanato was sure it was him is because is hand was shiny, like a metal. Kanato hears the buildings door open and close and he swiftly follows. Kanato sees Kanata’s(Author note: I THOUGHT THEM HAVING SIMILAR NAMES WAS COOL OK? remember if you see O, that’s our MC, if you see A, that’s the bad guy. Also, Kanata means “beyond across, the other side” which I didn’t even mean to do, but since they are enemies it fits pretty good right?) coat turn a corner. He follows him for several blocks, because Kanato doesn’t know what he is up to. Eventually, they end up right outside Jujutsu Tech. “He knows where I go to school?” Kanato asks himself. Kanata looks around and walks onto the staircase up to the school. Kanato pipes up. “HEY!” he yells, getting Kanata’s attention. “What do you think you’re going?” the sorcerer asks. Kanata stays silent, making an atmosphere so thick you could cut it with a knife. “What am I doing?” Kanata says, beginning to laugh, putting Kanato on guard. “COMING TO KILL YOU OF COURSE!!” Kanata yells, running at Kanato. The curse user raises his metallic hand and smashes it to the ground, right where Kanato was standing before he dodged it. Kanato goes for a gut punch, and is met with an extreme sting in his hand. “SON OF A-” Kanato starts before getting knocked back by Kanata’s hand. Kanato remembers the lesson Yaga taught him, so he pulls out his phone and headphones and immediately gets a song playing. His body is enveloped in his iconic purple aura. He points at the fiend attempting to take his life. “Let’s get started then”. Kanato rushes at Kanata, who is doing the same. Kanato focuses not on the song, but on the beat lying beneath the lyrics. On a snare drum, he hits Kanata, going through his metallic defenses and hitting him in the gut. “What the-” Kanata starts before getting a nasty uppercut to the face, knocking him into a backflip. “WHAT THE HELL WAS THAT?” Kanata yells. Kanato starts to explain before Kanata interrupts, “Actually, I don’t really care”. Kanato goes for a punch but Kanata dodges it and ends up right behind him, hitting him directly in the spine. “****” Kanato exclaims before hitting the floor. “M-My legs!” he says. Kanato’s spine was completely shattered. Kanata picks him up by the neck, lifting him into the air. “You killed my sister, it’s high time I return the favor” Kanata says, cocking his fist back. “WAIT!” Kanato yells. “I WAS ONLY FOLLOWING ORDERS, I THOUGHT SHE WAS A CURSE I NEVER WOULD HAVE LAID A HAND ON HER IF I REALLY KNEW!” Kanato explains, with a shortage of breath. Kanata’s grip loosens, allowing air back into the sorcerers lungs and dropping him to the ground. “Everyone else did. They tried to kill her countless times. I had to learn to protect not only me but her too…” Kanata says. “Listen, I am sorry, Kanata. I truly am. She sounded like an amazing person. I’ll make it up to you” Kanato says, a metal hand slapping his face, probably breaking his jaw. “HOW? SHE WAS EVERYTHING TO ME. THERE WAS NO PARENTS TO RAISE US. WE RAISED EACH OTHER, AND YOU TOOK HER AWAY WITHOUT A SECOND THOUGHT!” Kanata yells. Kanato thinks. “Join me here then, at Jujutsu Tech. I may not be able to bring back people but this school can train you. Your technique is extremely powerful, you could help us rid the world of curses. People that are born like your sister can have a second chance, we can change their minds, Kanata” Kanato says, through mountains of pain. Kanata stays silent. “I’m a special grade, Kanata. If you can take me down, I’d imagine you have the same grade” The sorcerer says in one final attempt to persuade the curse user. A metallic hand extends to help Kanato up.
Mid part author note: Hey guys! I’m currently typing this in ISS, as I did the whole part up to here so far. I had another part 2, but the story was all over the place so I decided to abandon it and replace it with this, which was actually a good decision, at least I think so. If I can find a save, I’ll post what I had typed out so you can see what I am talking about.
“So that’s how you got one of your greatest enemies to attend this school?” Hotaka says. It is currently 12:27, and Kanato and Hotaka are talking inside the medbay, where Kanato is still recovering from his injuries earlier this day. “Yeah basically” he says, nonchalantly. “What if he’s playing us? Do you really think he is just going to forgive you for killing his sister?” Hotaka asks, worried. Kanata was a real problem, one of the only foes Kanato had a real challenge with. “No, and I don’t expect him to, but he is a good person. He may hate me, but he stands for what is right. If that isn’t a good guy, no one is” Kanato replies. Kanato really did feel remorse for taking her life. He was trying to protect someone, and he ended up doing the opposite and going against everything he stands for; loss of human life. Within the week, with Shoko’s RCT, Kanato was back up and ready to be deployed for another mission. Kanata had used his prior knowledge to get into 3rd grade of Jujutsu Tech, which would mean him and Kanato, along with Hotaka and the other third grades, would be deployed on the same missions. Kanato was peacefully sleeping in his dorm, blissfully unaware of the two students outside of it. “I’ve been knocking for like 10 minutes, why won’t he wake up?” Hotaka complained to Kanata. “Let me try” Kanata says. A loud crash and the telltale sound of a door hitting a wall wakes Kanato right up. “WHA- WHO- WHY?!” he says, frightened by the noise. Kanata and Hotaka stand at his doorway. “Uh- I apologize” Kanata says. “Woah that was sick, dude!” Hotaka says to Kanata, raising her hand for a high five. Kanata simply looks at the hand, confused on what she’s doing. “What is this?” the curse user turned sorcerer asks. “Dude, you’ve never heard of a high five?” Kanato asks, still getting ready for the day. “I do not know what a ‘high five’ is, no” Kanata replies. “Here, just look”. Kanato gets up and slaps Hotaka’s hand, with a crisp dap coming from the impact. “Why would you attack her?” Kanata asks, more confused. “No no- it’s not an attack, it’s like a sign of friendship!” Hotaka says. “I see” Kanata says. He slaps Kanato across the face. “OW DUDE WHAT THE HELL?” Kanato says, holding his face. “I thought this was a sign of friendship, why are you angered?” Kanata asks. “Nah nah nah dude, you slap them on the hand, not hard to where it hurts, but not too soft to the point where there is no sound” Hotaka explains. “Ah, I understand now”. Kanata extends his hand outwards to Kanato, who slaps his hand. “See, didn’t that feel good?” Kanato asks. Kanata looks at his hand. “Not particularly, but I guess I will participate in this” Kanata says. The students exit the dormitory. “It’s Saturday isn’t it?” Kanato asks. “Yeah sure is, what you have planned?” Hotaka answers. “I think we show Hakari our new friend here!” Kanato says, excited to visit his old friend. “Who is this ‘Hakari’?” Kanata asks. “A good friend of ours. I’ll bet he’s over at Gachinko” Kanata explains. “…or hitting the slots again” Hotaka says sarcastically. The new founded trio leave the school grounds and make their way over to Gachinko Fight Club, a fight club that Hakari owns and operates. They go to the door, where a buff bouncer stops Kanata in his tracks. “Hey Kanato, you know this guy?” the bouncer asks. “Yeah, he’s a friend of ours, we’re gonna introduce him to Hakari” Kanato assures, with the bouncer letting him through. They enter the building and are greeted with music and flashing lights, causing Kanato to light up and release his aura. A familiar face exits a staircase. “HEY KANATO WHAT’S UP MAN?!” Hakari says, yelling over the music. Kanato daps Hakari up. “Yo wassup, man. This our new friend, Kanata”. “Ah yeah I thought I didn’t recognize him, nice to meet you bro!” Hakari extends his hand for a handshake, which Kanata accepts. “Greetings. You’re the one they call Hakari?” Kanata says. “In the flesh!” Hakari says, leaning over to Kanato. “Yo what’s up with this guy? He feds?” Hakari asks. “Nah, he’s a little weird but his heart is in the right place” Kanato explains. “Well, welcome to Gachinko Fight Club! Number 1 fight club for sorcerers to get everything out of their system!” Hakari says, pointing a ring in the middle of the building. Two unknown sorcerers are fighting. Cursed energy bursts out of one’s hands, hitting the other, while he hits a good right hook to the face, knocking him out. A bell rings and an announcer shouts “KNOCK OUT KNOCK OUT WE HAVE A WINNER!”. The sorcerer is given a hefty sum of money and exits the ring. “So this whole place is for combat?” Kanata asks. “Sure is, not a lot of places in the city where a sorcerer can find another sorcerer and just have a friendly fight” Hakari explains. Kanata looks Hakari up and down. “You seem to be a very strong individual, would you like to fight me?” Kanata asks. Kanato lies his hand on Kanata’s shoulder. “Woah woah woah- don’t get hasty now, our friend here is almost Satoru Gojo level!” Kanato warns. “Oh nonsense, Kanato. Sure man, we’ll spar” Hakari answers. They step into the ring. “Are cursed techniques on the table?” Kanata asks. “It’s a fight club for sorcerers what do you think?” Hakari replies. “3… 2…. 1,,, GO!” the announcer shouts. Kanata’s hands gain their metallic shine. Hakari goes in for a devastating gut punch. With a loud “Thunk”, Hakari’s hand stops on Kanata’s stomach. “Alright alright, I call T” Hakari says, making a T with his hands “What the hell was that?”. “What was what, sir?” Kanata asks. “THAT THE METAL I JUST HIT YOU CAN’T USE ARMOR HERE!” Hakari exclaims. “Oh this isn’t armor, this is my cursed technique, Iron Will” Kanata calmly explains, “It allows me to turn any part of my body to Tungsten, which is what I did when I saw your attack”. Hakari thinks for a moment. “Alright, that’s pretty neat, I’ll give you that. You won’t get the chance to deflect these next ones”. Hakari calls off T, at which point the sorcerers start fighting. “Damn” Hotaka says,”I can barely catch up, they’re moving at supersonic speeds at least!”. Kanato uses the club’s music to speed up his mental time, allowing him to more clearly see the fight. Kanata was taking damage no doubt, but even as fast as they are moving, his reaction speed was quick enough to defend from some of Hakari’s attacks. Kanata prepares a right hook, where Kanato can really see the genius in his former rival. Kanata threw the punch BEFORE turning his fist to steel, which allowed him to put more kinetic energy into the hook. Then, he turned it into Tungsten, which because of its weight, retained most of the kinetic energy. The power from this attack was enough to send Hakari stumbling back. “Jesus” Hakari said simply, before rushing back in. Hakari pretended to go down for a gut punch, which Kanata attempted to defend, but in reality, Hakari pivoted his hips, sending his left hand flying into the back of Kanata’s head at mach 50 billion(author note: hyperbole). Kanata’s eyes rolled into the back of his head and he landed face down on the ring. “KNOCK OUT!” the ref calls out.
Kanata wakes up in his dormitory, with Kanato, Hotaka, and an bigger, older man he had not seen before. “You morons. We get a new sorcerer and the first thing you do is bring him to a SUSPENDED STUDENT?!” the man yells. Kanato did feel bad about what’d happened at the club, but at the end of the day, it was just some good fun. “Oh cmon Sensei, we brought our new friend here to meet another friend. Is that really so bad?” Hotaka argues. “No, it is not a problem, until we have 3 3rd grades, TWO OF THEM CARRYING AN UNCONSCIOUS STUDENT, coming back to school grounds, bloodied and beaten. Kanata speaks up. “W-Wait, how did you two get covered in blood?” he asks, waking up from probably the nastiest left-handed punch this side of the equator. The duo look at eachother, hesitant to speak up. The older man, probably Kanata’s superior in someway, sighs. “Just keep an eye on the new guy and for the love of all that is holy STOP TALKING TO HAKARI!” he says, standing up and leaving the room. Hotaka and Kanato sigh. “Alright, well let me answer that question of yours”.
Kanato jumps into the ring and picks up Kanata. 25% awake and 75% concussed, Kanata asks “Did I win?”. Kanato replies with, “Not exactly, buddy. Let’s just get you somewhere you can lay down”. On the way out, Kanata’s still very metal hands hits a man on the back of the head. “HEY”. Kanato looks around before seeing the great big man in front of him. “Yeah, what’s up” he asks, remaining calm. “I think your little friend here hit me” he said. Kanato looks down at his definitely knocked out friend. “Uh– nah man I don’t think he di-” Kanato starts, before getting the man’s fist to his face. “Oh my god, Kanato are you ok?” Hotaka asks. Kanato wipes the blood from under his nose “Here, hold this” he says, handing Hotaka Kanata’s sleeping body. “Oh what, you’re a big guy now?” the man taunts. He throws another punch, which Kanato effortlessly dodges, and retaliates with a powerful uppercut. Now, you would think a nice, forgiving guy like Kanato would just knock the guy out and continue his day. Not today. The punch lands on the man’s face, and instantly his head explodes. Gasps erupt from the crowd, and Kanato addresses them. “WHAT? DOES ANYONE ELSE HAVE A PROBLEM?” He asks, aggravated. Hotaka puts her hand on his shoulder. Kanato pulls away before realizing who it is, and then his gaze softens. He looks at the corpse on the ground, the blood on the ceiling and his fist, and finally his best friend. The person that’s pulled him away from danger, who’s saved his life, and who he’d spend the rest of his life with. “Come on, Kanato. Let’s get back” she says calmly, knowing he could be in a sensitive state. “Y-Yeah let’s get out of here” he mumbles. The trio walk out of the club and not one person tried to stop them.
“I thought you were against taking human life, what happened?” Kanata asks. Kanato looks up at the ceiling, trying to find the answer himself. “I don’t know. I want to say it was an accident but the truth is, I did mean to” he says, softly. Hotaka lets out a quiet gasp and Kanata just stares at him, before averting his gaze. “I understand your frustration, he wronged you and you wanted to get even, trust me I am familiar with the concept of revenge” Kanata says, in an attempt to comfort him. “I do not control your life, kill or do not kill, but at the end of the day, people get mad, you can’t control that. You can only control how you react”. Kanato takes the words his newfound deuteragonist had told him. “Thanks, Kanata”. He puts his hand out, which is met with a metallic hand. “Uh- are you gonna fix that?” Kanato asks. Kanata looks at his hand. “I mean… do I have to?” he says, “It’s comfortable knowing this hand can be used for self defense at anytime, and a good workout” Kanata explains. “Nah man, you don’t have to” Kanato says with a smile. “Let’s get some sleep guys, even though Kanata technically just woke up” Hotaka says. With that, Kanata’s new friends leave the room, leaving him to his thoughts. He hears a pitter-patter across his floor. The former curse user, raised in the streets and naturally cautious of everything, sits up in his bed and stays on high alert. The same sound runs to the left of his room. Not having a cell phone yet, Kanata goes to turn the big lights in his room. While he’s still turned around, he hears the sound again. Kanata turns around. Nothing. Just his heavy breaths and the slight buzz from the lights. He closes his eyes, holds his breath, and stays perfectly still. From years of being cautious on the dark streets of Kyoto, this noise is not unknown to him; the unmistakable sound of a curse scurrying around. It sounds like a relatively weak curse, Grade 3 at most. He hears a footsteps. With in a second, Kanata was on the other side of the room, directly in front of the noise. “Come out, curse. If you are friendly, I will not hurt you”. He had been saying that for years, and for years, there never was a friendly one. A slight murmur comes from his closet door. Slowly, he opens the sliding door. A curse, pretty lanky and on all four, is in his closet. Kanata should have exorcised it right there, but something stopped him. The feeling of nostalgia, Deja vu if you will. In some way, Kanata knew this curse. He pops a squat, getting closer to the curse. It’s eyes did not carry the same inhumanness as the average curse. These eyes could feel, could understand. “A-Akemi?” Kanata says, with a catch in his throat. The curse walks forward, acting like a dog, with similar friendliness. “Of course…” Kanata starts. “… The negative emotions surrounding your death- my inability to let go- caused your cursed energy to stay behind, turning you into a cursed spirit!”. The curse- called Akemi from now on- did not display the usual, aggressive behavior of a curse. She knew that this was her brother, and he knew this was his sister. “I am sorry, Akemi. This time… you will not leave my side” Kanata says. Kanata felt at ease with her, and his burning hatred of Kanato had began to be snuffed out.
Skip a day to Monday. Kanato wakes up to his alarm at 5:30. He gets ready for the day. He waits in bed until about 6. “Huh, that’s weird, Hotaka is usually here by now”. He exits the room and saunters over to Hotaka’s. With a weak knock on the door and a half awake “Hotaka get up”, he hears rustling around in the room. “HELLO!” Hotaka screams while exiting the room, “Nanami hasn’t got anything planned for us does he?” she asked. “No idea, but since it’s a weekday, we’ll probably get deployed to do something” Kanato answered. The weekend was a pretty quiet one. Nanami had been deployed for a curse with that Itadori kid, but other than that our main group had not gotten deployed for anything. They just hope this peace will conti-. “KANATO, HOTAKA” a voice boomed behind them. Slowly, the pair turned around and was met face to face with Nanami. With a deep sigh, Kanato answers, “Yeah, what’s up?”. “A curse user has been seen roaming around the city, by the subway station. They’ve taken two lives, and could be harboring power. We don’t know any thing about their cursed technique, so approach with caution. Bring the new kid too” Nanami explains. “Oh man, this is not good” Hotaka says. “Yeah ya think?” Kanato replies “Let’s wake up Kanata and go deal with this guy”. Kanata was sound asleep, having not fully adjusted to the school’s schedule, and is awoken by Kanato pounding on the door. “Hey, big man, gotta get up. There’s a curse user down in the subway station” Kanato yelled through the door. Kanata looked around for his sister, but she was nowhere to be found, but a note lie on his desk. “Kanata, I have left because of the danger this place poses to me. Do not fret, I am always watching over your shoulder. Just as you have, I have gained strength, and if you find yourself in a bad place, I will help you out of it” it read. Kanata smiled before opening his door. “Alright, let’s go”. The group met up with Ijichi in his car, and were driven to the subway station. “Ok guys, he’s taken two lives, so clearly not someone to mess around with. Subway’s already been evacuated, so let’s move, beat him to a pulp, and get away” Kanato hyped his group up. Kanato puts his headphones in, Hotaka puts on her specially created armor (made for the most damage when ramming into targets), and Kanata’s fists take on their signature metallic gleam. Kanato takes the first steps in, and takes cover behind a corner. After peeking and ensuring the coast is clear, he signals to the rest of the group to follow. The group walks along the subway. They see bodies, blood, and… ink? “Hey, Kanata. What’s this look like to you?” Kanato asks. Kanata takes a knee and feels the substance with his fingers. “Looks like ink” he says. “See, that’s what I was thinking but why would there be ink here?” Kanato answers, inspecting the liquid himself. A scream and the sound of liquid hitting the ground put the group on high alert. “COME ON IT WAS THIS WAY!” Kanata yells out. The group bolt to the location of the scream. Only a body, blood, and even more of that ink remain. “Residuals” Kanata says. “What?” Kanato asks. “If a curse user did indeed do this, he should have left some residuals. We can follow those to them” Kanata explains. “Of course, nice thinking, Kanata!”. Kanato focuses on any energy residuals. A path does indeed show up, in a very deep black. The kind of black that shows up when you’re in a dark room and close your eyes tight. The trail lead all around the subway. Following it led the trio to even more bodies. Eventually, they looped back around to the body they had supposedly heard the scream from. “Hey guys, check this out” Hotaka says. Kanato and Kanata obey, coming over to Hotaka to see what was up. The residuals went into a closed and locked control room for the subway. “Hotaka?” Kanato looked at Hotaka, who immediately understood her assignment. With a loud crash, the metal door flung to the other side of the room. “That never gets old” Hotaka said. “You folks ever heard of knocking? A man’s tryna eat in here!”. “WHO WAS THAT? COME OUT WITH YOUR HANDS UP AND WE MIGHT NOT BEAT YOU SENSELESS” Kanato yelled. Kanata flicked a switch by the door, revealing a man, around Kanato’s age, crouched over, eating something. SomeONE. “What” “The” “****” the group finishes for each other. “Well howdy! Name’s Kuro, curse user here” the man spoke. “Yeah, you’re currently eating a person so we’re not exactly looking for introductions” Kanato replied. “Of course, where are my manners?” Kuro wiped his face and got up. “Well then, I’d suppose you sorcerer folk are here to put a stop to my ‘reign of terror’. Well I’ll tell you something there, we gotta eat don’t we?” the freak explained. “We passed a McDonald’s on the way here, I’m sure you can eat a burger rather than a person” Hotaka said. “His technique may require eating people to recharge” Kanata reasoned. “DON’T REASON WITH THE CANNIBAL!” Hotaka yelled at him. “Nope, just like eating people, I guess” Kuro said, shrugging. “Yeah well we can’t have that now can we?” Kanato said, stepping towards the curse user. “Aww man, I really didn’t want it to come to this” Kuro said. He put his hand up. “QUILL STROKE!”. A black line appeared and began towards Kanato. With a slash, a giant gash appeared across Kanato’s chest. “Missed…. me” Kanato retorted before promptly falling to the floor. The substance from the slash got on the walls. “It’s… ink!” Hotaka thought. Kanata, quickly thinking, turned most of his body to metal, apart from the joints. “RAGHHHHHH” with a scream of struggle, Kanata rushed at Kuro(authors note: THESE GOD DAMN K NAMES MAN SOON ENOUGH I’M GONNA BE MISTAKING MY OWN CHARACTERS). With the added weight of a person’s body being turned to Tungsten, the rush was admittedly slow, but when he shoulder bashed the foe, it certainly proved effective. With Kuro on the ground, screaming from the pain of having his ribcage shattered, Kanata took the opportunity to scream to Hotaka “GET HIM OUT OF HERE”. She answered with a nod and picked up Kanato’s body, who was still alive. “We gotta get you back NOW!” she exclaimed. Kuro got up from the ground and wiped the blood seeping from his mouth. “NOW YA DONE PISSED ME OFF” he screamed “BALLPOINT”. A ball of black ink appeared in front of Kuro’s hand and shot at Kanata. Thunk. “W-WHAT?!. HOW? HOW?” Kuro screamed. Kanata smirked and hit him in the face, sending him flying to the wall. Before he got a chance to fire off another shot, Kanata grabbed Kuro’s hand. “N-Now, I’m sure a reasonable fella like yourself could talk this out” Kuro said. With no words and that same smirk, Kanata crushed the curse user’s hand. A loud crunch and a howl from Kuro was heard by Hotaka, who was still leaving the subway. “Man, I hope that wasn’t Kanata”. “Y-YOU AIN’T GOT NO IDEA WHO YOU’RE MESSING WITH, PAL. MY CONNECTIONS WILL MAKE YOUR WHOLE LIFE HELL!” Kuro screamed. “The old me would kill you outright, right here. Right now” Kanata put his hand around Kuro’s throat and picked him up. “My friend, WHO YOU COULD HAVE KILLED, changed me” Kanata dropped the whimpering mess to the ground. “Now, in the way you would put it, you oughta get outta my sight before I smack you into next Tuesday” Kanata said, mocking his adversary. Kuro crawled off, moaning and groaning the whole time.
“Man, you did all that to him?” Kanato asked, on the medbay cot. “Yes. You have taught me killing is wrong, and I think that is the right way to live” Kanata said. Kanato raised his hand, and with a crisp dap, Kanata slapped his hand. “About letting him get away, you think we’ll see him again?” Hotaka asked. “If he knows what’s best for him, probably not” Kanata said, sternly. Kanato laughed “You are one scary mother******, man”. Kanata and Hotaka left the medbay and went to the usual hangout spot; the training grounds. “I’m good at stuff other than breaking down doors and running, by the way” Hotaka says. “I had assumed” Kanata said “Kanato told me about your past endeavors, apparently you two have a couple of Special grades under your belt”. “I didn’t know you used figures of speech” Hotaka joked “Hey, did you maybe wanna go get a(authors not: Gogeta?) coffee together?”. “Sure, I am low on funds though” Kanata said. “Ah no problem, I’ll pay!” Hotaka offered. “Then yes, I accept your offer”. The two walked down the school’s long staircase and off of the grounds. Kanata had never really gotten a good look of the city, hiding in abandoned buildings and the shadows for most of his life. “The city really is beautiful”Kanata said in awe. “I suppose you never got a good look?” Hotaka says. “One time I remember quite fondly. Me and my sister scaled the Tokyo Metropolitan Government Building-” Kanata started. “Wait, how’d your do that?” “Well, my sister’s…. deformity had given her almost suction like hands, and she brought me up. Despite being my younger sister, I’ve always thought of her as an older sibling. Before I could properly defend us, she stepped up and anyone who tried to mess with us ended up running away. Anyways, when we got to the top of the building, it was the most magnificent thing I ever saw. The cities lights, the cars that looked like ants below us. Yes, a fond memory indeed” Kanata finished. “Wow, you were really close to her, huh?” Hotaka asks. Kanata looked up “Very close indeed”. The two got their cup of coffee and headed back to the campus. Hotaka went off to the training grounds and Kanata went to see Kanato. “Hey, what’s up big man?” Kanato asked. “The ceiling” “Real funny, Kanata” “It was not meant to be humorous”. Kanata’s looked dropped, and Kanato picked up on that. “What’s the matter, big guy?” Kanato asked. “Are you and Hotaka… an item?” Kanata asked. “‘Course not, me and her have been tight since I came here! I mean, we’ve thought about it but she’s got her type and I’ve got mine”(author’s note: note to self, make a Todo appearance) Kanato explained “Why, you got the hots for her?”. Kanata looked down, slightly blushing “Well, given my limited interaction with women, yes I may”. “Aww c’mon man it’s nothing to be embarrassed about. Where’d you two go?” Kanato comforted the lovestruck sorcerer. “She asked to get coffee, and I complied” he answered. “SHE asked YOU! That’s huge, dude! I’m sure with a couple of duo missions you’ll figure something out” Kanato said “Don’t sweat it too much, you’ll think of her a lot then all you can think of is her, so just make sure you focus on yourself”. “Understood” Kanata said, walking out of the room. A faint voice piped up behind him, and he turned around. Akemi was lurking around the campus “Come here, I cannot speak too loud” she said. Kanata walked over and squatted to her level. “Akemi!” he exclaimed “What is the matter?” he asked. “I heard your conversation just now and I followed you to get the ‘coffee’. Congratulations, brother, love has found you” she spoke. “Ah nonsense, I’m just in over my head, that’s all” Kanata shrugged. “Now now, brother, you mustn’t hide your emotions. We’ve seen where that gets you” Akemi joked, showing her cursed body. “Yes, sister, you are right. I will not make an immediate move but I will attempt to gain a closer relationship. Is that satisfactory?” Kanata folded. “Yes, it is whatever” Akemi snarked. “Is that a hint of sass? I am the older one you know” Kanata replies in his own snarky way. The siblings laughed and parted ways once again. For the first time since he got there, Kanata wandered the school grounds by himself. He made sure to familiarize himself with the grounds, noting the locations he passed and their distance from other locations. Suddenly, a much louder and deeper voice spoke up from behind him. “Kanata, new kid, right?” the voice spoke. Kanata turned around and looked up at the man speaking to him. “Yes, that is me. What can I help you with?” he said, taking extra care to be polite to his superiors. “Well, there’s a situation pretty close to us. I noticed you’re away from the rest of your grade so I thought this would be a great opportunity to see what you can do!” the man was chipper, and spoke with 100% confidence. “I suppose I could do that. Where is the location?” Kanata said. “Here, I’ll show you” the man grabbed Kanata’s uniform collar and he was suddenly in a completely different location. “Oh- you’re that Satoru Gojo person my peers were talking about! Nice to meet you, sir” Kanata said, quickly. Being outcasted and a curse user much of his life, Kanata had only heard stories of the great Gojo. “You- didn’t know… me?” Gojo said, pointing to himself. “Yes, I had only heard about you, never have seen you though” Kanata explained. “Well you have now! Anyways, curse is just in there. 1st grade curse but from hearing the mission you were just sent out on, nothing you couldn’t handle” Gojo said “Catch you later, man!” Gojo said, disappearing just as fast as he appeared. “Certainly an ecstatic fellow” Kanata said to himself. He turned to face the rundown building this curse was supposedly in. Kanata had gotten no prior information of the curse, considering he was teleported here and only told the curse’s location. Walking in the building, a shiver was immediately sent down his spine. The building appeared to be an old hotel, abandoned by man and wore down by time. He entered the lobby area, and walked around, taking in the building. He picked up a Sonic figurine from off a shelf. “Neat” he said, shoving it in his pocket. Kanata walked up the first flight of stairs and looped around the floor. “1A 1B, 1C” he absentmindedly said. He walked up the next flight and repeated the process. “1A, 1B- wait a second” he looked closer at the doors. They all said 1, even though he had went up a floor. Kanata rushed downstairs, where it still said 1 on the doors. He ran up to the third floor, where they all still said 1. “Not good” Kanata wished he had a cell phone, but continued. “So the curse has me trapped in a loop, how can I escape this?” he looked at the wall. Regular old drywall. “There’s a thought. Kanata faced the end of the hallway and rushed at the wall full speed with his shoulder extended. Right before he hit the wall, he turned his arm into tungsten and braced for impact. An impact that never happened. Kanata opened his eyes and he was still at the other side of the hallway. This time he looked at the wall the entire time and ran at it, only to end up at the other side once again. “Two possibilities. This is an incomplete domain, constructed only with cursed energy to imitate the building, in which case I’ll have to find the curse holding the domain and exorcise it. That or the curse is physically moving me back very rapidly” Kanata thought. Suddenly an idea popped in his head. Kanata readyed up to run again, but this time he turned his back into tungsten and moved backwards as fast as he could, jumping into the wall. With a crash, he was outside the building, falling from the first floor. He landed with a loud clank. “Owwwwwww” Kanata said holding his shoulder. He looked around outside and realized something; he was nowhere near Tokyo much less the campus. “****”. He got up and dusted himself off. Kanata stumbled into a cafe and went to the desk. “Do you have a phone I can use?”. A phone call and a Gojo appearance later and he was back at campus. “So…” Satoru started “How’d it go?”. “The curse was looping me back around the first floor. Couldn’t go up or down” Kanata said. “How’d you figure to get out?” Gojo asked. “I simply went backwards instead of forwards. The curse couldn’t loop me in time so I busted through the wall” Kanata explained. “Simple yet effective. That’s good, any sorcerer can exorcise a curse but only a talented one can use his brain and problem solve” Gojo praised “Keep that up, we could use a good sorcerer like you here” he said, walking away from Kanata and eventually out of sight. A hand appeared on his shoulder. “That’s what could have happened”. Kanata shot awake, still in the hotel. “So this is much more complicated than I had thought. Time for a wild card”. Kanata’s hands formed a square. “DOMAIN EXPANSION: TUNGSTEN TRAMPLING”. The walls around him disappeared, revealing a curse that he had not seen. “YOU THINK YOU’RE THE ONLY ONE THAT HAS A DOMAIN, HUH?”. Kanata’s domain expansion, Tungsten Trampling, puts him and any effected people in a black void, apart from the 100 meter x 100 meter Tungsten cube above them. The creature made sounds of confusion . “A lethal domain I figured out a while back” Kanata explains. “All you have to do is break my hand seal”. The creature lunges forward and starts crawling on all fours. Kanata feels hands all around him, yet there was nothing there. “Mind games… all it is”. The curse reaches him and grabs at his hands. He pulls his hands out. “That wasn’t all to it…” Kanata says, dodging grabs left and right. “… If you don’t break this seal, it’s not just lethal for you”. The creature desperately reaches for his hands. “Please… PLEASE!” it yells in its disgusting, cursed voice. Kanata kicks the creature and runs away. The ball was just 10 feet above them, and was falling at a slow .5 feet a second(author note: I am American!). The average running speed is 3 m/s, but Kanata trained vigorously for years and ran at a solid 10 m/s. Kanata was making a run for the other side, as he had led the creature to the opposing side. Kanata could make the run in 10 seconds, giving him 10 seconds of spare. The curse caught up to him about a foot back. Kanata took a second to kick it in the face. 8 seconds. The curse recoiled and Kanata pushed himself harder to reach the side. 7 seconds. The curse, bruised and filled with rage, ran harder to catch him as well. 6 seconds. The curse grabbed at Kanata’s legs causing him to trip and almost break the hand seal. 5 seconds when he got up. Kanata stomped on the monster’s head, stunning it a second longer. 4 seconds. At just over half way, Kanata continued running, quite literally for his life. 3 seconds. Every step felt like his last when the cube reached 6 feet, barely grazing the sorcerers hair. 2 seconds. Kanata crouch ran to keep his head low. 1 second. Kanata dived and felt immense pain in his lower legs. The domain closed. Kanata attempted to get up. He looked down just to realize he was missing both of his legs. “GRAAHHHHHHHHHH” Kanata yelled. Just outside of the building, Kanato and Hotaka heard him. Kanata was missing for 3 days, and after noticing his extended absence, Kanato and Hotaka had grown suspicious. The two found his location from Gojo who told them the location of Kanata, but couldn’t bring them because of Itadori’s inability to completely control Sukuna. The sorcerers made the trip in a day and went scouring for the veil Gojo had put up. After finding it, they found Kanata’s domain blocking the entrance. They rushed up the stairs and found Kanata. “Hey hey, dude, we’re here don’t worry. We’ll get you all fixed up” Kanato said, very worried. Kanata was unresponsive. Hotaka pulled out her phone while Kanato picked up his formal rival. “SEND GOJO DOWN HERE NOW, KANATA IS HURT VERY BADLY” Hotaka yelled into her phone. She was talking to Nobara, who she became close friends with and knowing the 1st years spend most of their time around him, Hotaka thought she could get him. Within a couple of seconds, Gojo appeared. “Let’s go we need to get him out. Hold on” Gojo said, extending a shoulder. Hotaka grabbed on and reach her hand for Kanato. Before Kanato could adjust his grip to grab her hand and support Kanata, the fallen sorcerer grabbed Hotaka’s hand instead.
