Kanato wakes up to his friend, Hotaka, banging on the door to his dormitory. “HEY KANATOOO! WAKE UPPP! WE HAVE A MIS-” her sentence is interrupted by Kanato opening the door. “Oh shut up I got it” he says sassily. “Well it’s 8:37 and we were suppose to deploy at 8:00 sharp” she says back, copying his tone. “Ah ****, alright let’s go”. They get in Ijichi’s car. “You two are never gonna hear the end of this, Nanami’s mad” Ijichi says when they enter. Kanato sighs “Yeah, we know, it’s my fault for sleeping in”. The car pulls off and they arrive at the scene. Ijichi briefs them. “A 3rd grade curse has been making a nuisance of itself. Exorcise it and keep in mind there have been multiple missing person cases, so try to find them too. Dead or alive”. One of Kanato’s least favorite parts of being a Jujutsu sorcerer is the loss of life. He lost his mom (well, adoptive mom) to a curse right in front of him. Though, his hatred of curses kept him pushing through. Kanato knew it was unlikely, but he’d like to exorcise every curse on this planet. Kanato and Hotaka step out of the car at 9:07. Nanami approaches them. “You two have some explaining to do.” he says sternly. “IT WAS ALL HIM HE SLEPT IN LATE!” Hotaka yells in defense. “Kanato, is this true?” Nanami questions. “Yes sensei, I promise not to let it happen again” he apologizes. “Better not. Anyways, I left the best part for you two, I located all of the missing persons but I thought you’d like to handle the curse.” Nanami says. “Alright, we’re on it.” Kanato says. Him and Hotaka enter the house at 9:10. “Man, this place gives me the heebie-jeebies!” Hotaka exclaims. “Yeah, places with curses tend to do that, let’s just find this creep and get on with it” Kanato replies. Like the curse had heard him insulting it, it pops around the corner they were approaching. “YAHHAHHAHA!” it yells. Kanato and Hotaka get into their stances. Hotaka runs in and uses her cursed technique, Powering On, to push into it and stun it. Powering On allows the user to move 1 meter forwards or backwards without moving their feet of anything. As she makes her move, Kanato pulls out his headphones and cell phone. After plugging them in, he starts up his music. Kanato’s cursed technique, The Beat Of My Own Drum, increases his physical and mental prowess while also giving an extreme buff to his cursed energy output while listening to music. His body is enveloped in cursed energy and in the blink of an eye, he’s in front of the curse. It makes an attempt to attack him, but he catches it’s arm and rips it off. The curse screams in pain but is cut off by a powerful punch to the gut, going completely through it. The curse turns into dust. “Well, we’d better get back”. After skillfully destroying the curse, the pair of sorcerers exit the building. To Satoru Gojo on the other side of the door. “Gojo? What are you doing here?” Kanato inquired. “Well, I wanted to see you two perform on a real mission so I popped in!” The Strongest Sorcerer replies. “But wait, you were out here how would you even see us?” Hotaka asks. “Oh I wasn’t out here the whole time!”. Kanato, ignoring the fact Gojo had gotten by them, asks “Well, is there anything else for us to do?”. Gojo says “Yes actually” his expression changes from smiling to serious. “There is a Special Grade curse down in Kyoto wreaking havoc. We believe it is a Sukuna Finger Bearer, so wee need to get it so Yuji Itadori can consume it”. “I heard about him, but I thought it was just rumor. There really is someone in the school that is just a vessel for Ryomen Sukuna?” Kanato asks. “Indeed, though I can’t tell you much more about him, talk to him later if you want, we need to get down there now” Gojo teleports him and the two 3rd years to the scene. Rather, directly in front of the curse. “AHHHHH” Hotaka yells. Kanato, having his music still playing, explodes into combat with the curse. Its high grade went toe to toe with Kanato’s. They exchange punches until the curse knocks back Kanato. “HOTAKA, GO” he yells. Hotaka pushes into the beast, knocking it back quite a ways. “You’re gonna have to weaken it more for me to go through it” she says as it flies back. “Ok” Kanato replies simply. He rushes the monster. As he looks into its un-human eyes, he sees something he thought only humans could feel; Fear. It stands up and punches Kanato. “Weak. This is a punch” says the enraged sorcerer as he punches it directly where it holds the finger. This punch sends it flying to Hotaka. “BLITZ MOVEMENT” Hotaka says. Blitz Movement is a technique of Powering On which greatly increases speed, at the cost of higher cursed energy consumption. As the unstoppable sorcerer comes into contact with the curse, her immense speed allows her to go right through it, turning the curse into a mess of purple blood before it turns into dust. Her speed sent the finger flying and it hits Kanato right in between the eyes. “Ow” he says as he bends down to pick it up. Gojo takes the finger and says thanks before teleporting away. “Did he really just…” Hotaka starts. “…Leave us. Yeah” Kanato finishes. “Well” he says as he stretches, “We’d better get walking”. “I have a better idea” Hotaka says as she starts moving away, one meter at a time. Kanato figures the same and uses the music playing to move much faster. The two sorcerers made the 21 day walk in 3 hours. When arriving at Tokyo Metropolitan Curse Technical School, or just Jujutsu High, Kanato says “I’m gonna hit that white-haired egoist some day I swear”. “Ha! Good luck with that, Kanato” Hotaka says. Ijichi runs up to them. “You… need… to…see… Yaga” he says in between breaths of air. “Got it, thanks Ijichi” Kanato replies. “No… problem… ,Kanato” he says before making his way back up the stairs. The pair of sorcerers go to the principals chambers. “Kanato. Hotaka. Good to see you again”. “Good to see you too, Principal. What’s up?” Hotaka asks. “Satoru said you two preformed very well against that finger bearer. You do know that was a special grade curse, yes?” Yaga says. “Yeah, he sure didn’t feel like it though” Kanato laughs, sticking his fist out to Hotaka, which she promptly fist bumps. “To cut to the chase, we want to suggest you two for Special grade yourself”. The two, 1st grade sorcerers, stop in their tracks. “Special grade? Wow, Yaga, that’s nice of you” Kanato says. “Well you two deserve it, there is one catch. To qualify, you have to exorcise a special grade curse by yourselves” the pair of students look at eachother. “So, no more getting deployed together?” Hotaka asks. “Only if you want to. Next time we detect a special grade curse, we’ll send one of you. Depending how you preform, you will be promoted to special grade”Yaga says. Hotaka and Kanato look at eachother once more. “So, we still can get deployed together on non-special grades?” Kanato inquires. “Precisely.” Principal Yaga says. “We’re in” they say in unison.

The next day, Kanato wakes up at 7:30 to his alarm. “Well, I didn’t sleep in today”. He goes to shower and get dressed. He exits his dormitory at 7:48. He goes to Hotaka’s door to see if she’s there but there is a note. It reads “Kanato, if you came to my dorm to see what’s up, they found a special grade curse for me! I’ll be back and when I am, I’ll officially be a special grade sorcerer, isn’t that awesome? Anyways, I’ll see you later, Hotaka 5:30”. “Huh, guess she’ll do fine” he says to himself. Flashbacks of his mother being brutally killed in front of him appear in his mind. “Agh, no. No she’ll be fine”. The flashbacks continue, his mother’s corpse, him beating the life out of that curse. It all hits him. “NO NO N-” Kanato yells before he is interrupted by Hotaka’s hand on his shoulder. “Flashbacks?” she says. Kanato, seeing his friend well and alive, calms down. “Yeah, they were real bad this time”. Kanato was diagnosed with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder during his first year at Jujutsu High. In his first year, he was sent out to exorcise a 4th grade curse. When he arrived, a mangled human corpse was laid out in front of the curse. Kanato remembered his mother’s gruesome death, and suddenly he was back in their old house, his mother being attacked by a curse in front of him. After exorcising the curse (which he did very quickly), Ijichi went up to him. “Kanato, are yo-” is all he could say before Kanato punched him. He snapped out of his episode. “Ijichi! I’m so sorry I don’t know what happened!” he helped his good friend up. ‘No no, it’s ok Kanato, I could see what was happening. Do you hold a lot of memories of your mother?” Ijichi says, rubbing his cheek. Kanato pauses before replying. ‘I-I guess. What’s that got to do with it?” he asks. “You may have PTSD from the trauma of-” Ijichi stops in fear of starting it back up. “I see” Kanato says “So what should we do about it?”. “We should bring this to Yaga, he’ll set you up for an examination” Ijichi replies. Kanato stands back up. “How’d it go?” he asks. “Read it and weep” Hotaka says handing him her new school ID. Underneath all the other information, it reads “Grade: Special”. “Wow Hotaka! I knew you had it in you!” Kanato says. “Thanks dude, but you’re way stronger. It took me an 2 hours to beat that thing, it’ll probably take you 30 minutes!” Hotaka encourages. ‘Thanks man, let’s get breakfast, I’m starved and I’d bet you feel the same” Kanato says. “Yeah, totally. Let’s see if the cafeteria has anything good!” Hotaka replies. The two start off for the cafe before Nanami steps in front of them. “Kanato” he says sternly. “Whatever you’re mad at I probably didn’t do” Kanato replies. “It’s something else. We have a Special grade for you” Nanami tells him. “You should go, Kanato!” Hotaka says, before Nanami says “He will go. Even if it was found for him, there is still a curse out there that would need exorcising: special grade promotion  or not”. “Yeah yeah, I’m on it” Kanato says “I’m guessing Ijichi will bring me?”. “No actually, it’s in Poland” Nanami says. “POLAND!?!?!?” Kanato exclaims “THAT’S A WHOLE OTHER CONTINENT?!?!?”. “HOW LONG WILL HE BE GONE?!?!” Hotaka asks, in fear of it being able to see her best friend for a while. “About 2 weeks. The plane ride over will take some time, then locating the spirit. You will have a hotel, so I suggest exorcising the curse early for a break, or you can of course call as soon as the objective is complete” Nanami says. “He WILL come back as soon as it’s done because his BEST FRIEND will be waiting, right Kanato?” Hotaka says, grabbing Kanato’s ear. “OWOWOW YES YES I’LL COME BACK RIGHT AWAY!!” Kanato screams. “Good it’s settled. Ijichi is waiting to take you to the airport, Gate 4B. F-O-U-R-B” Nanami spells out. “Yeah I got it. See you in a while, Hotaka!” Kanato yells behind him. “SEE YOU!!!” Hotaka yells waving at him.

Kanato arrives at Ruciane-Nida, a small town in Poland. His hotel was a small (but very cozy) room. When he arrived, he signed into his room, and slept the rest of the day, being tired from the ride. He woke up at 6:00 sharp and gets ready. He leaves the room at 6:11. Ijichi had given him a map with the approximant location of the curse circled. He followed the map, and before reaching the destination, sees a child. It appeared to be in distress, so Kanato approached it. It appeared to be a small boy, rambling on about something. “Hey kid, you ok?” Kanato asks. The boy keeps rambling. “…. Mom…. Agata… Papa…” Kanato picks up. “Hey, what happened to your mom, buddy?”. The boy notices Kanato. He runs up and hugs him around his legs “T-the monster. Up there. He took my family” the boy points to a hill. Kanato, filled with rage for the boy, and empathy, says “Don’t worry, buddy, I’ll get your family, and if I can’t, I’ll kill that monster dead.” Kanato said, anger emitting from his voice. The boy wipes his tears, “T-thank you, sir” the boy thanks Kanato. “Please, call me KanKan” he says. Kanato puts his headphones on and starts his music. Cursed energy covers his body like a purple inferno, burning with rage, fueled by empathy. “Woah” the boy says before Kanato races off to the hill. When getting up, he sees a old, decrepit house. He wastes no time rushing in. It appears to be empty, and very dark. Kanato directs some of his cursed technique to his vision, when he notices a trail of blood. His mother’s face appears in his mind. “****, I forgot to take my meds, and their at the hotel” he says to himself “I’ll have to make this fast”. He runs, following the blood trail like a hound. It leads downstairs, into a basement. Kanato jumps down the stairs, landing professionally. He looks around and sees a small girl in the corner. “Hello?” Kanato says before he remembers the name the boy said, Agata. “Agata, is that you?”. The girl turns around, fear and trauma in her eyes. “H-help m-me” she says, shaking. Kanato rushes over and hugs her “It’s gonna be ok, your brother is safe”. Keeping a tight hold on her, he takes her outside the house, where the boy is waiting. “AGATA!” he yells running to his sister. “BARTEK, YOU’RE OK!”. She hugs her once lost brother. Kanato smiles before remembering there could be more people. He runs down the stairs, where a beast sit, an arm in one hand and a head in the other. Suddenly, the curse that he saw disappears, and the one that killed his mother is in front of him. He knows he’s seeing things, but this thing needed to die now. “You- you monster! You killed those innocent children’s-” he stops. He knows this curse will not listen to any words coming out of his mouth, so maybe he’ll listen to a fist to the gut. Kanato blitzes to the cold-cored killer and punches it in the face. The curse recoils and goes in for a counter. Kanato speeds his mental and physical speed. This costs a lot of cursed energy, but effectively allows him to bend time. He ducks the punch and releases a barrage of punches to the curse. He’s listening to the Metal Gear: Revengeance soundtrack, Red sun specifically. Suddenly, cursed energy isn’t a problem and he’s hitting consistent black flashes. He has reached an enlightened state of his cursed technique where he is perfectly synced with his music “Rhythmic Destruction” . “When the wind is slow” the song sings, with a black flash on “slow.” The curse jumps back but Kanato follows closely. “And the fires hot” it continues, with another black flash on “hot”. Kanato considers his Domain Expansion, but it would take too much time, so he decides against it. “The vulture waits to see what rots” the song says. Kanato puts all of his speed, strength, and anger in his next punch. It connected with a black flash. The monster folds onto the ground. “Huh weird, they usually dissipate” he says casually. Kanato has successfully eliminated the curse, and hit three black flashes in the process. He scouts out the rest of the basement, unfortunately finding the rest of the parents. Kanato walks out of the house. “We’re our parents in there?” Agata asks. Kanato looks down, saddened. “I see…” she says. “Did you kill the monster dead?” Bartek says. Kanato smiles. “Yeah, that thing won’t bother you any more” he says. “Well,  what do we do now?” Agata asks. “I think you see the authorities and tell them what happened to your parents”. “Well, what did happen?” Agata asks. Kanato remembers only a select few non-sorcerers can see curses. “They wen’t missing, say that, and Bartek” Kanato says. The boy looks at him. Kanato gets down to his level “Being able to see that monster makes you special” he whispers “Jujutsu Tech in Tokyo, Japan may be able to help you harness your true potential like me” Kanato says. “Woah” says the boy. “Ask your sister to call this number” he says, writing a phone number on a paper “Make sure only you and your sister see this, ok?” he says. The boy grabs the paper “Ok KanKan, thanks for killing that monster” he says hugging him again.  Kanato hoped he’d see the kid on day, in his school or not. “I’ll sure miss you, buddy”. Kanato stands up. “What about you, mister?” Agata asks. “I gotta get back to school, which you guys should stay in so you can get smart and graduate” Kanato replies. “Ok we will!” Bartek says. With a wave, Kanato leaves and goes back to the hotel. “Hmm, I know I said I would go right back” Kanato starts to think “Butttttt this is real comfy and I figure I should see what happens to those kids”. So after a quick nap, he went to the town’s police department. “Have two kids came in here about their parents” he asks the person working at the desk. “Yes, that Agata and Bartek, they have went into a temporary home at the orphanage. One of them said they have someone to call, so they won’t be put into a foster home. Why are you asking?” the secretary asks. “I helped them with their problem but their parents didn’t make it out..” he says sadly. “I see. You must have some emotional connection with them so I’ll keep you posted”. After giving his contact information, Kanato went to the hotel and packed his bags. “Hey Nanami, I’m ready to go. The curse is neutralized” Kanato said into his phone. “Great, the school’s travel card has the money for a ticket, come back when you please, but preferably sooner than later” Nanami replied over the spotty phone connection. “Alright, see you then”. The town was small and didn’t have an airport of its own, so he had to walk to the next town. No problem for him, Kanato preferred walking because it’s easier to spot any loose curses, and he had plenty of stamina for walking. He had chosen a path that was really just a straight beeline to the airport. The nearest one was 44km away, and that was no sweat for him, so he began the long trek. Kanato had made it just shy of halfway before he heard rustling in the grass near him. he turned around, expecting a curse, but it was a human. Kanato drops his stance “Jesus man, you scared me” Kanato says, relieved that it wasn’t a curse. “That’s the point” the figure said sternly. Kanato took a step back “Hey man, I really gotta get back, could we not?” he says, pointing his thumbs behind him. “That wasn’t a curse you killed back there” he said “That was my sister” the figure spoke softly, yet enough to intimidate Kanato. “Well, one, it-SHE looked like a curse and I was sent to exorcise it, and two your sister killed two innocent civilians!” Kanato argued. “They were anything but innocent. They hurt their kids” the man said. Kanato is taken aback. “I-I had no idea. I-I’m so so-” before Kanato can finish his apology, a fist came barreling towards him. A metal one. It connected with a loud “CLANK” to his face. “Oh what the- metal? What’s ha-” Kanato starts before a swift kick to his gut. It felt harder than just skin and bones. “**** I can’t pull out my music now!” Kanato thinks. He starts humming “The Only Thing I Know For Real” from the MG:R. Kanato’s technique can work off not official songs, the power will be dampened, but with this boost he’ll find a chance to pull out his real music. A metal fist comes towards his face but Kanato leans to the side to dodge it. He goes to punch his gut. “CLANK” “CRUNCH” is all he heard. His punch did nothing to his attacker and turned the bones in his hand to a fine powder. “****!” Kanato grabs his hand. He had a small understanding of Reverse Curse Technique, but not enough cursed energy to use it yet. A punch to the chest knocks him back and winds him. As he grabs his chest, the figure starts to speak. “I am Kanata. My last name is no worry for you. My curse technique is “Iron Will”, which allows me to turn any part of my body into metal, at the cost of not being able to turn it back without using Reverse Cursed Technique, and I have a very good grasp of RCT” he says. “Well, I’m Kanato, Yamagishi if you care. I use “The Beat of My Own Drum”, which increases my physical and mental prowess as well and a boost to cursed energy” he says, pained. “Huh, that’s why you started humming. Very clever, Kanato” Kanata says “Unfortunately, you killed my sister, so I have to avenge her”. Kanato sees his fists turn back into metal. He takes note of the lack of joint movement when he does. He slowly pulls his phone and headphones out. “Come on man, you want this fight to be interesting right? Just let me get this started” Kanato looks at his phone, putting a finger up to signal “One second”. Kanata scoffs “Very well, show me your best” he says. Kanato puts the headphones on. A purple hue engulfs his body. “Oh yeah, that’s better”. Using the cursed energy he got, he heals his hand. “That’s your only timeout” Kanata says before running towards Kanato. Kanato speeds up his mental time. “So I figure he has to know where I am attacking to reinforce himself, and he has a decrease to movement in his metal parts” he rationalizes. His lack of cursed energy can’t keep the mental speed up, so he shuts it down and Kanata begins moving at full speed again. He throws his whole body into a punch, with Kanato barely dodging it. Kanato’s fist begins moving towards his attacker’s chest. Kanata reinforces it, but Kanato punches his under arm by his shoulder. “What?” Kanata is surprised at the rhythmic sorcerers cleverness. “I adapt quickly” Kanato says. “Damn right you do” Kanata says, a wicked smile from ear to ear covering his face. Both sorcerers, even with their injuries, can’t help but love this fight. Kanato speeds up his mental and physical speed. Knowing he can’t keep this up long, blitzes behind Kanata and releases a barrage of punches to his back. In real time, Kanata attempts to reinforce his back. Kanato can feel his back hardening, so he goes to switch to the front. Kanata had expected the sorcerer would switch, so he reinforces his front before Kanato can get there, faster than even the time bending sorcerer can get there. Kanato goes in for an attack and injures his hand trying to attack, the force of the punch sending only him back. “I adapt quickly” Kanata says, imitating his opponent. “Damn right you do” Kanato says “Why not make your whole body metal? Other than the lack of joint movement, of course”. Kanata is taken aback from Kanato noticing one of his major weaknesses. “Very well, I will tell you why I cannot. When I turn my body metal, it replaces everything down to the very atoms that compose me into Tungsten. As you know, this metal is very dense, making it good for reinforcement, but also very heavy. The skin around it starts to stretch, and makes the whole transformation very painful, so I attempt to limit the usage of my technique” Kanata explains “I suppose you have weaknesses?” he asks “It’s only fair, of course”. “Sure” Kanato says “I don’t have any ‘weaknesses’ per say, but I guess my headphones could fall off. That would certainly not be good” Kanato says “Maybe just cursed energy usage, my technique doesn’t actually give me all that much, it just comes off me. Better defense and offense” Kanato finishes. “I see, even with our weaknesses we still appear quite strong” Kanata says “So let’s swing- no cursed technique”. “Sounds cool” Kanato says. He puts his headphones away and Kanata’s metal fist disappears. Kanato runs at his challenger and throws a mean left hook, being dodged and Kanata gets a counter. Kanato persevered through the pain. Kanata goes in for a heel kick but Kanato ducks under it, finding a opportunity for a gut punch. It stuns Kanata for a second, Kanato taking advantage with a follow up sweep. Kanata uses his arms to bounce of the ground, throwing off Kanato’s attack and going in for a kick to the head. Kanato puts his guard up, blocking Kanata’s punches and kicks. Kanato grabs his attacker arm and pulls him to him while going in for a punch. Suddenly, the sparks of black choose Kanato, and he ends the fight. Kanata’s eyes roll back into his head and he falls to the ground. Kanato pants heavily. He considers taking the other sorcerer’s life, but knows that would go against all he believes. He grabs the sticky notes and pen from his backpack. “Hey dude, sorry about that. I did not mean to kill your sister, and she fought for a very noble cause, you should be proud. I gotta get back to school now, so seek revenge some other time. Regards, Kanato Yamagishi” he wrote. Kanato put the note into the unconscious man’s  pocket and continues walking.

Kanato arrives at the Tokyo Airport at 3:27 the same day. Ijichi spots him. “Hey Kanato, over here!” he yells to him. Kanato notices him and walks over. They talk as they walk through the airport. “So anything interesting happened while I was gone?” Kanato asks. “Well, yes” Ijichi says, worryingly. Kanato looks over to him with a concerned look on his face. “Hotaka was sent out to a mission, Special grade curse”. Kanato’s mind thinks the worst. “She sustained a lot of injuries, and we had to send a team out to help. She’s in medical care”. When Ijichi looks to Kanato to say sorry, he’s gone. Kanato was running top speed to the school himself, passing people, cars, and planes with his speed. He arrives in 3 minutes and runs up the stairs. He reaches the medical department. He finds the school’s doctor, Shoko Ieiri. “Shoko, where’s Hotaka?” he asked hurryingly. Shoko points to a door behind her. Kanato opens the door and sees Hotaka on a bed, Shoko’s RCT healing most wounds. “Hotaka!” Kanato said, rushing in to hug her. “Easy now, I’m still fragile. Anyways, Kanato you’re back! How was it?”. Kanato tells her all about the children, the “curse”, and Kanata. “Hmm, so a curse user is out there in Poland?” Hotaka asks. “Well, Kanata is definitely a Japanese name, so I believe he might live somewhere in Japan. I may need to keep an eye out” Kanato reasons. If that curse user really does live in Japan, this would make Kanato’s day to day life much more dangerous. After walking out of the medbay, Ijichi calls out to him “Principal Yaga needs to see you!”, so Kanato makes his way over. When he opens the heavy doors to his office, Kanato can see two things; Yaga and a ID in his hand. ‘Well Kanato, I heard you beat the special grade curse, so I need to give you this” Yaga hands him a new ID card. It says “Grade: Special” at the bottom. “Thank you, sir” Kanato says. “Please Kanato, you deserve this” Yaga replies to the newly special grade sorcerer. Kanato bows before he leaves the principal’s office. He decides this is enough for today and goes to his room to sleep.

He wakes up at 4:47 the next day. “Guess this is what happens when you sleep at 7”. He gets dressed and leaves his room at 4:53. Kanato walks around the campus aimlessly and finds himself in front of the entrance. He leaves the campus at 5:14, sending Hotaka a text saying “I left campus. idk when I’ll be back just make sure nanami knows”. Kanato continued walking, thinking about his life, what he’s gonna eat, and other miscellaneous thoughts but one was at the top of his mind; Will Kanata show up again? He figures there’s definitely a chance his new found enemy is gonna show up again, so he plans to get some more training in, but right now he made his way over to the convenience store by the campus. He walks in and waves to the shopkeeper. While choosing out his snacks, he hears a man enter the store. “GIVE ME ALL THE MONEY NOW”. The man had a gun and was pointing it at the shopkeeper. “O-Ok sir, just don’t hurt me” the shopkeeper said, in fear of his life. The man notices Kanato, innocently picking out his chips. “YOU, ON THE GROUND” he yelled. Kanato looks around “Me?”. “YEAH YOU GENIUS GET ON THE GROUND” he man yelled, infuriated. “No?” Kanato said. The radio had stopped running ads and played music. Kanato erupts into cursed energy, but the man cannot see this. “YOU ASKED FOR THIS” the man pulls the trigger. Kanato catches it. “Hey dude, just leave”. The man is scared “I-I SAID GET DOWN” he shoots another bullet and Kanato dodges it with ease. “Ok dude, whatever” Kanato is suddenly behind the man. Before he can react, Kanato chops his neck and the man falls down. Kanato turns around and sets his chips on the counter. “Just these, thank you” Kanato says while pulling out his wallet. “Oh no, I can’t take your money. It’s on the house” the shopkeeper says. “Huh, thanks man” Kanato puts his wallet away. Kanato leaves the store and begins walking back to campus. As he enters the school’s campus, Nanami is already on his way out to look for him. “Where did you go?” Nanami asks. Kanato replies by bringing the bag of chips up. “Well, we need to talk to you” Nanami says. Kanato finishes the bite in his mouth and asks “We?”. “We being me and the other staff” Nanami answers. “Well, Alright. What for?” Kanato asks. “You’ll find out”. Kanato and Nanami reach the meeting chamber for the teachers, where Principal Yaga, Satoru Gojo, Shoko Ieiri, Utahime Iori and Ijichi Kiyotaka sit, waiting for the two. “Thank you for meeting us here, Kanato. I hope we didn’t wake you” Yaga starts. “Oh nah, I was just getting chips” Kanato says, taking a seat with the staff. “Hotaka mentioned the curse user you fought, said his name was Kanata?” Shoko says. “Yeah, the dude was crazy strong, I hit a black flash just to beat him!” Kanato says. “… And she mentioned why he attacked you” Shoko continues. Kanato’s expression saddens “Yeah, I had no idea. I feel terrible”. “We aren’t here to punish you for that, you were simply following orders, but this curse user sounds easily special grade” Yaga says. “Then why not just send me?” Gojo retorts. “Yeah, why not just send Gojo?” Kanato echos. “Gojo needs to keep an eye on Itadori, we still don’t know if his hold on Sukuna is tight enough to let him handle it on his own” Yaga says. “So, I need to fight this guy?” Kanato says “I barely had him the first time!”. “Unfortunately, yes you do. We sent scouts out and they reported back with a sighting of a individual with high amounts of cursed energy. Is this your guy?” Yaga says, handing Kanato a picture. A person, hidden among other faces, drags Kanato in. There, Kanata sit in the middle of the picture. “Yep, that’s the guy” Kanato says “I still don’t know exactly how to beat him though, the guy can make himself LITERAL STEEL-” “Tungsten” Gojo pipes up. “Same thing shut up- Anyways LITERAL TUNGSTEN. Other than ‘punch not metal’, there’s not a lot anyone, let alone ME, can do” Kanato finishes. “See, that’s where you’d be wrong” Principal Yaga says. Kanato tilts his head in confusement. “You see, your cursed technique has small, reality bending abilities. Kanato’s head tilts further with a “Huh?”. Yaga pulls down a diagram displaying Kanato, Kanata, and a couple of arrows spanning across multiple panels like a comic book. “‘The Beat of My Own Drum’ is not just a static multiplier or boost to your abilities, the ability strengthens based off the beat” Yaga explains. He pulls a metronome from behind the screen. “A metronome is the best example of this” Yaga says, starting the metronome. When he does, Kanato starts glowing his violet hue, and when it clicks, he stops glowing. “Woah” he said, looking at his body switching on and off his cursed energy. “Your body has one of these built into it. Note I didn’t say your brain. Your entire body works like a clock, counting and remembering each second, minute, hour, day, and so on” Yaga says. “And he still finds a way to sleep in” Nanami says sarcastically. This is a extension of your cursed technique, allowing your body much easier control over your technique, but you must calibrate that clock to the rhythm of the song” Yaga continues. “So, I should be actually listening to my music instead of just fighting?” Kanato says “You know, sometimes when I do hit on beat, I hit a black flash right away, is that related?”. “Yes, but that’s the least useful part of this. To cut to the chase, you can bypass cursed techniques”  Yaga says, pointing to the first panel of the diagram “If you can punch on rhythm, Kanata’s tungsten will turn back into skin, even with its inability to go change back to normal without Reverse Curse Technique” Yaga finishes, pointing at the last panel. “Wowww” Kanato says, looking at his hands “Even Gojo’s infinity?” he asks. “Hmm, we should try it!” Gojo says, sure he won’t get through it. The two get up and face each other. “Alright Kanato, make sure you hit on the metronome” Gojo says. Kanato hones in on the beat. His body’s inner clock calibrated to the sound, every drop of blood pumped, every breath took, every blink, was tuned to this metronome. Kanato punches. His first comes into contact with a very surprised Satoru Gojo. “I DID IT I REALLY DID IT I HIT SATORU GOJO!”  Kanato exclaims. He tries to pull his arm out but it doesn’t move. “Uh Gojo, can you turn it off now?” Kanato asked, struggling to pull it out himself. “Well, maybe you can pull it back out” Gojo said. Kanato focuses once again, and pulls his hand when the metronome beeps. This isn’t a ‘Oh I heard it pull out now!’ this isn’t a millionth of a second, this isn’t even a billionth of a second, this is happening THE VERY SAME MOMENT the metronome clicks. His hand pulls from Gojo’s infinity. “OH YEAH I CAN BEAT ANYONE!” Kanato cheers in his new found strength. “Remember, this will be very difficult to apply in real battles, it requires extreme focus and use of your body” Yaga says. “You should probably start doing more hand on training with the other students” Gojo adds. “You got it guys, I’ll beat that guy for sure now!” Kanato said confidently.

He walks out of the room and sighs. Even with this new ability, he feels he’s still lacking the skill to beat this guy. He walks to the training grounds where most of the students have congregated. Hotaka is back up, watching the younger years train, and Kanato goes to sit by her. “Hey Hotaka, you look better” Kanato says. “Yep, Shoko works wonders you know” Hotaka says “Still a bit sore, but you can’t expect everything to be painless” she says, clutching her side and Kanato takes notice of this odd action. “What happened there?” Kanato asked, pointing to the spot Hotaka was holding. She lifts her shirt to reveal a huge purple bruise. “DAMN” Kanato exclaimed, which you can’t blame him for, the bruise was about the size of his head. “The curse I was fighting ran and headbutted my side. Luckily, I grabbed the little ****** and sent him to space” Hotaka said, bragging. Suddenly, Kanato heard his name being called by what looked to be one of the first years. A chipper looking kid with pink hair was waving towards Kanato, with Megumi standing by him. Kanato knew Megumi from his close (or relatively at least) friendship with Gojo. In fact, the first time the two met, back when Kanato’s was a first year, they sparred with each other, and Megumi actually managed to take Kanato down. Ever since, he’s respected Megumi’s power. Kanato shoots a glance at Hotaka that says “Give me a moment” and got up to walk towards him. Kanato get over there and daps up Megumi. “Wassup” “Yo” their usual greeting, the both of them being fairly reserved. The pink-haired one speaks up, “Hey! I heard you were real strong! Can we spar?” he says very fast. “Woah slow down Goku, I don’t even know who you are” Kanato says. “I’m not Goku, I’m Yuji Itadori!” Itadori says. “Wait a sec- you’re that Sukuna kid?” Kanato asks. He looks the vessel up and down, nothing too special about him. “Yep that’s me!” Itadori says. “So, what’s your cursed technique?” Kanato asks. “Oh- I don’t have one of those!” Yuji says, cheery as ever. “Wait- someone with no cursed technique is able to manage the strongest curse ever?!” Kanato gasps. “Yep, just skin, bones and a lot of hard work here!” Itadori says. “Huh, yeah I’ll spar you, you want me to use my technique?” Kanato answers. “Yeah totally!” Yuji says enthusiastically “What is your technique?”. “The Beat of My Own Drum, a rhythmic based technique that enhances my mental and physical abilities as well as cursed energy output while I am listening to music” Kanato answers. He starts to pull out is headphones when another presumably first year says “Wait! I’ll get my speaker we can all listen!” she says as she runs off to get it. “That’s Nobara Kugisaki, first year’s one girl” Megumi says. “Huh, sausage fest like usual” Kanato says. Nobara comes back and powers on the speaker. “Radio or aux?” Nobara asks. “He’s the MC here” Yuji says pointing to Kanato. “Whatever you put on is fine, the technique engages to any song” Kanato says. Kanato and his challenger walk onto the training ground’s grass field. Nobara starts the music and Kanato’s cursed energy engulfs him. “Woah, this guy’s the real deal!” Itadori says. “First things first, I’m the realest” Kanato quotes. “What?” “Newgen” “That doesn’t even become a common saying until 2024!” the two bicker. Nobara starts counting down as the second years arrive and take a seat to observe. “3… 2… 1… GO!” Nobara says. The two rush at each other. Yuji throws a right hook to Kanato’s face which he easily dodges, punishing him with a gut punch. Yuji keeps fighting like he wasn’t hit and throws a jab to Kanato, connecting with his shoulder. Kanato uses the force from that attack to pivot to the side of Yuji, throwing his elbow back to connect with his ribs. Yuji throws a left hook to turn himself around and attack Kanato and hit connects. “Man, this kid can hit” Kanato says. He focuses on his mental speed, and Yuji’s movement slows. Kanato decides also buffing his physical speed would not only be very taxing, but also kind of unfair. He scans out Yuji’s body. He was mid swing leaving most of his body open. Kanato decides to immobilize him instead of his signature liver shot, maybe ending the fight. He dodges the punch already en route to his face, grabbing his arm and throwing him back while he progresses to Yuji’s back. He kicks the back of his knees, taking him down to his knees. Yuji bridges back and grabs Kanato. “Jeez, this kid can really move”Kanato thinks. Yuji has a death grip on him, and Kanato decides one move can take him out of this. “I’m sorry, Yuji” He says, returning to normal speed. “Sorry for wh-” Yuji says, as Kanato bends down and throws a nasty punch to his liver. Yuji’s eyes roll back and his grip loosens. “That couldn’t have felt good” Kanato says. He bends down and feels for a pulse. “He’s good he’s good” Kanato says. “I don’t think he deserved all of that” Nobara says, poking his unconscious body. “Yeah, I could have ended that less painfully” Kanato admits “I just panicked”. Kanato backs away from the group of people congregating around Yuji, who was in a deep slumber. He meets up with Hotaka and the two walk away from all of the commotion and go to class. The third years don’t have “classes” per say (author note: I cannot find ANYTHING about the third year’s teacher, so screw it, they just help the lowerclassmen – U) but they join younger year classes to help the teacher with lessons. “Well, since one of the first years is currently on the ground sleeping, we should go to the second year class” Hotaka says. “Sounds good to me, Yuji might be looking for revenge” Kanato replies. Revenge. The fight with Kanata replays in his mind the whole way to the classroom. Somehow, despite hovering over Yuji a couple minutes ago, the second years were already in the room. The second year instructor, Atsuya Kusakabe enters the room. “Ah, Hotaka, Kanato, good to have you helping” he says. “No problem, man” Kanato replies. “Alright, we will start with honing your abilities to see residuals from curses. We may go out and do some hand-on training if you can finish today’s lesson quickly” Kusakabe projects so the whole class can hear him. “Residuals are an important yet overlooked part of Jujutsu. While most of you can see a curse’s residuals, it requires much more skill to see a curse user’s or fellow sorcerer’s because they show up less potent, and most sorcerers can suppress it. Yes, we will also go over how to suppress it yourself” he continues. Hotaka and Kanato make their way to the back of the room and talk. “Can you suppress your residuals?” Hotaka asks Kanato. “Sorta, it’s a whole lot harder when my technique is active” he responds. “Well how come?” she prys. “Not only do I have more cursed energy when it’s active, my energy is more potent, making it stay on surfaces longer” he explains. (author note: so I kinda lost motivation to work on this… thinking of posting this and the rest in parts. Update: Yes, I will be posting this after closing up this part. Do not worry reader, as long as this receives ANY positive feedback, there will be more! Tell me, should Kanata stay an enemy or become a friend? Ask questions, because there is NO author that partakes in his community like a freshman writing a entire story for their OC.). The class proceeds and Kusakabe gives them the go ahead to go outside and train. Maki, a 2nd year Kanato knows of and Hotaka’s best friend, calls her over. “Hey, want to spar? I promise I’ll go easy” Maki says. “Yeah, YOU’LL go easy” Hotaka teases back. The two step onto the training grounds and start their match. As Kanato sits and watches, his wander, watching the ants crawl around, the stunning lack of birds in the sky, all around lost. Then, he spots a building in the skyline of the school, and he sees something. No, someONE. He sits up, watching the figure a bit more closely. It’s much too far to get anything resembling a good look. It was just standing there, not moving, not falling. His mind had immediately gone to the worse, thinking someone had enough of life and was trying to end it. The building was about a kilometer away. “I can make that” Kanato says. He runs off of his seat, not letting a single life go to waste. He was going through the city faster than most cars on the road. When he arrives to the base of the building, he notices there isn’t a group of people at the bottom waiting, nor a body. He looks up to see the figure turn away and walk back onto the building. Fear pulsates through his entire body. As the man on the roof, was Kanata. (Author’s note: Hey you actually read my story! A cliffhanger is the best way I could think to end this. If my writing is horrible, TELL ME! I’m always wanting to improve to make YOUR reading experience more enjoyable! Questions/Feedback? Well, I’m not quite sure what I’ll post this to yet, so if it has comments, just comment, if not, chant my name 3 times. This has been U, and I hope YOU have a good day! Check back in maybe a month for the 2nd part; bigger, longer, and uncut!)
