Powers and Abilities


  • Superhuman Strength: After his DNA was infused with the Compound B serum, Grant’s strength was greatly enhanced to the point that he could lift and carry a billion tons of force. As an infant, Grant was already bench-pressing a 200-ton crane at a very young age. When Grant was a child, he was able to lift a school bus and the weight of every student in the bus. Grant was strong enough to destroy a trucker’s rig and hold up an oil rig’s collapsing drilling derrick. After reaching his full potential, his punches became powerful enough to generate shockwaves with excessive force. He’s capable of effortlessly hurling semi-trucks across extreme distances, destroying mountaintops, towing a massive steamship through the Arctic, effortlessly crush a sniper’s head with his bare hands and crush metal with a single punch. During his combat training at the Stillwell’s Bionic Training Facility, Grant was able to eviscerate a training robot with a simple punch, although he was initally subdued by the latter. Grant was later able to effortlessly overpower Vertigo with a few powerful blows. Grant was able to carry a 300-pound bullet train to rescue the people inside the massive vehicle.
  • Superhuman Durability: Grant’s body is virtually indestructible. He was able to withstand the extreme heat of an oil rig conflagration, the extreme cold of the Arctic, expose to the vaccum of outer space, falls from great heights, and a high-speed collision with a kidnapper’s van. Grant’s skin is completely bulletproof, as high-caliber bullets bounce of him, and is immune to other artillery, such as anti-tank depleted uranium rounds and Maverick missiles. He was left completely uninjured by the explosion at the U.S. Capitol Building. Grant has withstood being electrocuted with a shocker-gun blasted at him by Crossbones. He was even able to withstand the full force of a generator’s nuclear radiation as well as the destructive electrical shock waves and thermal blasts from Crossbones. Grant managed to survive multiple nuclear bombs that was launced while he was in Romania. He was later able to endure direct hits from Captain Man’s shield and Charlie’s hypersonic scream. As a result of his endurance, Grant was able to supress and build a high tolerance for pain. When he was in high school, he was able to take a beating from two seniors and later got back when the bullies couldn’t and proceeded to nearly beat the two to death. He also appears to be resilient towards harmful substances and poisions and is immune to all types of diseases. He managed to withstand ingesting sulfuric acid cocktails and is immune to halothene gas and Novichok.
  • Superhuman Speed and Reflexes: Grant can both run and fly at tremendous hypersonic speeds as well as react at equally fast speeds. During his first flight, Grant traveled all the way from the Arctic to the savannahs of Kenya, then to the Washington Monument and back to New York, all in a matter of minutes. He was able to fly through the generator’s nuclear radiation beam to destroy it. Later, Grant was able to fling Crossbones away with his heat vision before he managed to use his shocker-ray blasts to shoot Miss America. Grant is fast enough to escape the gravitational pull of a planet singularity. In addition, due to his greater speed, Grant was able to compensate for his lack of experience to effectively combat and defeat the bionic androids that invaded Earth, as shown when he moved so fast to catch Henry completely off-guard to pummel him and was able to dodge and punish his attacks with heavy blows of his own before eventually catching him off-guard and restraining him.
  • Superhuman Agility: Thunderman is capable of enhanced acrobatic action and the ability to move his limbs at incredible speeds by sheer force of will. While not nearly as fast as Turbo, Thunderman can move at speeds much faster than light and is one of the fastest beings in the universe. Thunderman can match most other superhumans in their ability to perform super fast movements, reactions, and processes. He can use this power to disarm opponents with or without heightened reflexes, catch bullets or shrapnel or cross vast distances in seconds. Thunderman can also jump at incredible speeds; he was seen leaping steadily across ten buildings at a speed of 2000 miles per second (mach 9350). He has been seen jumping from the Moon to the Earth in less than 10 seconds. Thunderman is so fast that he is even able to vibrate through blows akin to what Turbo can do as seen in his fight with Captain Man.
  • Superhuman Stamina: Thunderman has never been shown to tire out when fighting enemies. Even when unleashing a punch more powerful than a planet-destroying attack, Thunderman showed no signs of fatigue. The only time in which Thunderman was shown to be panting and out of breath from continuous running, he recovered seconds later to continue his intense fight with Henry without showing any signs of tiredness. Due to his superhuman physique, Thunderman possesses an enhanced set of lungs, capable of granting him the ability to breath in several instances without any need for oxygen. Thunderman is capable of surviving prolonged periods without oxygen, allowing him to walk through a burning oil rig, travel at tremendous hypersonic speeds, and even remain underwater or within the vacuum of space without adverse effects. After his intense training under the tutelage of Kellan Stillwell, Thunderman gained the power to significantly focus the intensity of his breath to the point of freezing targets by blowing on them. According to Kellan Stillwell, Thunder was shown to be able to fly far beyond the Earth’s atmosphere without any need for oxygen to survive. This feat also confirms that he can completely survive the freezing cold of space and cosmic radiation. Thunderman could fly even faster in space at Mach 100.
  • Regenerative Healing Factor: Thunderman, like many other superhumans, can regenerate at an accelerated speed. He was able to rapidly heal after being severely beaten by Captain Man. Thunderman was also able to regenerate from Captain Man’s gamma ray burst.
  • High-Speed Flight: Thunderman can manipulate his own gravitational field, which allows him to defy gravity and fly at immense speeds. Thunderman can fly at least 1,000,000 miles per hour. According to Kellan Stillwell, Thunderman’s recorded flight-speed was Mach 2,000, surpassing Mega Man’s speed at Mach 1,000. Upon mastering this technique, Thunderman could eventually circle around the globe at about 2,000,000 miles per hour (Mach 2,606).
  • Heat Vision: Thunderman can to emit beams of intense heat from his eyes that can reach temperatures of 4000000000000 °C (or 7200000000032 °F). Visually, the power manifests as two laser-like beams of fiery golden heat-fueled energy being released from his eyes, with the surrounding areas being outlined as the energy builds. These beams can be made less intense to the point of being invisible, allowing Thunderman to work undetected. Thunderman has developed extremely fine control of this ability, as he was able to cauterize Miss America’s wound, and previously cut a tunnel into layers of thick ice in the Arctic to reach the bionic androids hidden within. At full power, Grant can utilize his heat vision to dismember humans and quickly melt several thick steel beams. He was able to destroy the helm of the Manhattan bridge and the automated kinetic energy-fueled punches used by Matthew Matthews in their fight. Thunderman’s last resort power that he discovered through his heat vision, was the ability to immediately expel all of his stored negative energy in one gigantic flaming burst of explosive force. This ability grants him a bright-orange thermo-nuclear aura, allowing for an all-out AoE attack, making him extemely powerful.
  • X-Ray Vision: By focusing his vision, Thunderman can see through any volume of matter. He can see things behind a solid, opaque object as if it were not there and can focus this ability to “peel back” layers of an object, allowing hidden image or inner workings to be observed. Thunderman’s enemies have attempted to use lead and zinc to hide things from his vision, mistakenly believing that anything with that material is somehow invisible to him. On the contrary, lead’s opaqueness to his X-ray vision makes the material easy to spot with a wide-angle scan and allows Thunderman to narrow his search to those opaque objects. He can even use intensify this power to the extent that he could use it at a Gamma radioactive level to short out a Space Station’s electrical engine and one of NASA’s rocketship.
  • Telescopic Vision: Thunderman possesses the ability to see something at a great distance, without violating the laws of physics. Although this ability is shown to have limitless conditions, the exact extent of the ability is undetermined. In function, this ability is very similar to the zoom lens on a camera. He is also able to see vast distances, outside the atmosphere, solar-system or even galactic distances and even outside of the universe.
  • Microscopic Vision: Thunderman can see extremely small objects and images down to the atomic level. Occasionally, Thunderman has used this ability to his advantage: when the Jester tried to distract him claiming that had several hostages in lead-lined airtight coffins, due to the latter asumming that he was vulnerable to lead, the latter anticipated that Thunderman would spend hours frantically searching for them while he fled the grounds.
  • Electromagentic Vision: Thunderman can perceive the world around him based solely on the patterns of magnetic and electrical energy. He is able to see the natural magnetic auras surrounding living beings, as well. The entire electromagnetic is visible to Thunderman and can tune his vision to interpret the various ranges of the energy. He can see radio waves (which includes AM, FM, and TV frequencies), radar, infrared, visible light, ultraviolet, power waves and gamma rays, and even cosmic rays. Thunderman can also see the energy flowing through power lines and technological objects (can tell if he is active or not). Thunderman can tell if a radio transmitter is “on” and if it is sending someone signals.
  • Infrared Vision: Thunderman is able to perceive the infrared spectrum (i.e. temperature or heat signatures), allowing him to perceive temperature variations in objects and environment. This ability is incredibly useful for observation purposes, as he is able to perceive the heat presences of any living targets. This power is capability of seeing biological or artificial systems to detect infrared radiation. The terms thermal vision and thermal imaging, are also commonly used in this context since infrared emissions from a body are directly related to his temperature: hotter objects emit more energy in the infrared spectrum than colder ones.
  • Superhuman Hearing: Thunderman possesses tremendous auditory awareness, allowing him to detect sounds from miles away. He can also use this power to detect a person’s heartbeat and blood pressure, and can tell when they are excited or anxious, such as when he detected Henry Davenport’s blood pressure to be 150/90, discovering that he was overdosing on bionics. He also heard the mayor of Baltimore through a wall and can also spy on Stillwell in his office. He heard the Jester’s heartbeat racing and Captain Man’s heart pounding. His hearing also allows him to tell when someone is lying. Thunderman can sense when he is lied to by various means. Unlike other superhumans who can also discern when he is lied to with accuracy and consistency, he can detect any and all lies being told at any moment. Thunderman can automatically detect and see invisible targets and tell where they are.
  • Superhuman Smell: Thunderman possesses an amazing olfactory sense, well beyond that of a human. As a result, he was able to tell that Stargirl and Phantom were afraid of himand nervous just by smelling that their adrenaline had increased. He can also use his sense of smell to locate explosives and even track someone’s hidden location. He was also able to smell Captain Man’s scent on Shadow Witch, thus letting him know they had a tryst before.
  • Inhuman Breath: Thunderman can exhale gale-force winds and inhale air in order to generate a vortex of wind. This can range from exhalation on par with gale-force winds to inhalation on par the power of a gravitational vortex. Thunderman’s lungs are largely expansive and will take a long time to run out of air. Thunderman is able to generate and manipulate ice within his mouth in a way that allows him to shape the exhaling of the effect. These shapes can include bursts, streams, spheres, even a mist of it from the mouth.
  • Immortality: Due to the Compound-B serum, Grant cannot produce aging cells which allowed him to age. The lack of aging organisms makes Grant completely immortal by all means.


  • High-Frequency Sounds: Due to his immense hearing, Thunderman is extremely sensitive to high-frequency sounds, such as Soundwave’s hypersonic scream or feedback from a radio. However, this weakness doesn’t seem to render him vulnerable as he was still able to continue his fight with Soundwave after the latter used her hypersonic scream to annoy him.
  • Ego: Thunderman used to have a massive ego, because of his immense abilities. Thunderman used to look down on normal humans and always intimidated other superhumans with ease. However, his ego made him hated by the civillians and even protested against him. After his weekly therapy session with Dr. Pitchfield, Thunderman has since lost his enraging ego.
